For my current tank of 10 gal I want to buy an Aqua Clear Powerhead. I might be upgrading to a 25 gal later on in the year so in the mean time which one should I get that will not send my 10 gal tank into an ocean wave. But need to make sure that if I upgrade lateter on it will be sufficient for my 25 gal.
Aqua Clear #201 or the #301?

Thanks drew, do you not think that 250gph is a bit much?
This is the breakdown of the AquaClear Powerheads
#201 - 126gph
#301 - 174gph
#402 - 270gph
#802 - 400gph
Your tank is a 46 gal and you use the #301, so would this be a turbulent powerhead for my 10 gal?
Also, what is "reverse flow" the 402 & 802 come with it?
And lastley, I have read about people using powerheads and their star fish being sucked into them, does the Aqua Clear have that cage on the intake tube?

Actually the minimum would be 10x turnover rate or 100 gph, to about 15x for 150gph. I'm pretty sure a 250 gph powerhead would blow the water right out of that 10 gallon, thats 25x turnover rate for a simple fowler tank?

Thomas so would you get the Aqua Clear #201 = 126gph or #301 = 174gph?
The one of these I choose I would like it to be able to handle my 25 gal if I upgrade but I also need it to sufice my 10 gal without it being to hard for now.

I would get the 301 if I were you. You can always put something over the intake to slow down the flow if need be.
