Maxi Jets are some of the best. What corals do you plan to keep?? 2-900s should do if you have a skimmer and sump and not going to keep sps corals. A wavemaker is a good idea so you get good random flows.
Mechanical filters are optional but not really recommended in a reef. Plenty of LR, LS, skimmer, sump & refuge will be all the filtration needed.

For me I just have 2 maxi jet 1200 in my 55, plus a Aqua C Remora with maxi jet 1200 protein skimmer and a eheim canister filter. Don't plan on keeping a reef in it, my tank isn't drilled for a sump so a refugium would be a better choice for me. Only keeping fish and Live Rocks in it. Anemones are hard to keep, especially in a young tank, better wait til your tank is well established and also a good lighting to go with it. Good Luck! :happyfish

You can buy live rock from this site. IMO I wouldn't use cured live rock for cycling, this was in another thread too. They say it's cured live rock, but you have to cure it again because there's die off during shipping. Otherwise, look for them in your LFS. :happyfish

That is actually the suggested way to cycle a tank. Use LR from the internet. Be sure to inspect the rock and take off any sponges if you see them and toss the rock in the tank. You should see an ammonia spike in a week or so...depending on how much rock you get.
