Power outage

The power just went out in my town. How long can the filters/skimmers be off without being concerned? The power co. says it should be about 2 hours, but I don't know how reliable that information is. Thanks.

The main concern is water circulation. A battery operated airstone will help a LOT.

there are lots of battery powered airpumps available. some are battery backup (run on AC, but switch to battery if power goes out)... and some are battery only. usually available for about $12. well worth the money to have a couple on-hand, imo.

For about $30 you can buy a battery backup (UPS). They're typically sold at computer stores. You won't need much to run a powerhead/filter for a little while.
