I live in an area that frequently looses power, are there any battery back-up power supplies available to purchase for a tank

You know, I do not know if there are any for tanks, but there are definately a bunch for computers that would probably wotk just fine. CompUSA sells a bunch of different kinds.

I don't think the computer backups is the answer. These are designed to stay up and running after power outage for a brief time [long enough for you to save your stuff and shut down your puter wo causing a crash with power surge, etc.] This is NA for aquariums. If you are really worried about this, I'd suggest a generator. I can't think of anything else that will address power outage problems adequately.

ROFL Are you just bored? However, if anybody is still interested in this topic, APC fully endorses using their BackUPS power supplies for aquariums, and if you buy one in the next month you are entered a drawing to win a 75gal tank to use it on. lol

I use APC's on my tanks - A few months back my power was out for 2 hrs and things kept a chuggin. Just be mindful of what you place in backup, ie; the MH's are not necessary!!

The one in my 150 is a 620, $179?
The one in my 30 is a little smaller, I can't see the front to get the #. I forget how much it was, but I'm guessing about $150.
