Power went out yesterday

So we had a short power outtage yesterday afternoon, after reporting it I was told that the est. time of it being resolved was 5 hrs and 45 minutes. So, time to break out the generator(which I had just had service 5 months ago). I quickly relized that generators need to be run often to keep them in good shape cause i had a hell of a time keeping it going( mind you this generator has only been used 4 times for storms and it is a top of the line comercial generator). Anyways, moral of the story is run your generators often so you dont have headaches when the power goes out and you start freakin out about you coral. BTW, after an hour the generator was running great just in time for the power to come back on
. But I learned a valuble lesson and will be starting and running the generator once a month for the sake of my tank!

yea, my husband runs his every now and then. It's an old one, not that great, but does the job.
He was talking about getting a kind that hook into your house, I guess they are pretty good and can run on natural gas (that's what we use to heat our house etc.) That would be cool, but I'm sure really expencive.

i don't have one. use a marine battery for back up to run my pumps and one of the 2 heater. it runs my tank for up to 12 hours. and it i still need power. i hook the set up to my car. and it powers my tank until i run out of gas.
