powerhead and RO/DI

Ok yet another question regarding my first setup.. I'm looking at options to move the water around in my water storage container, will get a big rubbermaid or something, and I found these two Aquaclear 4000s on ---- for decent price I assume..

Do yall think one or two of these would move the water around good to mix the salt into the water? I'll throw a heater in there and let it sit for a few days or a week, before I plan to change water in the tank.
Also, since I'm about to get a 100gallon tank, I'm looking for something to circulate the water pretty good, even though it will be fowlr for now. Is this a good pump for this tank? I can get it on ---- for ~$36 http://cgi.----.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=46312
Also, I plan to use a RO/DI unit to filter my city tapwater. I like these on ---- because they are cheap and are 6-stage.. seems good to me at 75gpd also.

Sorry for all of the questions... I'm trying to get everything organized here so that when I get some money (love college grants
) I can go right on ahead and purchase it. I appreciate all the help you people are giving.. it's great!

IMO stay away from RIO's I and alot of other people have had nothing but problems with RIO's . Look into Mag drives.
As far as the powerheads, I dont have experience with Aquaclears, but I love my Maxijets and seem to be the popular choice.
My buddy bought that same RO/DI unit about 3 months ago and is very happy with it so far.

Fist 2 powerheads were aquaclear 401 and 301s. The 401 cannot be tilted down at any angle, so its blowing across the surface, and the next size down, the 301, you can angle the flow up or down, but its not enough GPH when compared to the maxi jets, and I heard good things about both, but I went ahead and replaced both powrheads with several maxi jet 900s for good turnover. Hope it helps.

so the MaxiJet900 would be good to start off? The powerhead is just used here to move the water around huh? Is there any filtering media in it?

or how about the magdrive 5 500gph? I don't think the maxijet900 is enough, but maybe, what do I know.. Also, on the magdrive, does the pump go in the water, or do you have to run piping into the tank with the magdrive external?? :notsure:

The Mag drive sits in the water. Are you looking for a pump or a powerhead?
A Mag 5 is fairly large. IMO you would be better off going with 2 smaller powerheads than 1 large 1. Like to Maxijet 900's.

ah sorry for being confusing.. I do need powerheads for the main pump, one to sit in the storage bin that I'll mix my saltwater in, and then I need some pump to push the water from the sump back into the tank.. Two maxijet900 sounds good.. one on each end. Those just move the water around, right? What do you recommend for the return pump from the sump?
