Powerhead Falling

Does anybody else have problems with their powerheads falling off the tank.
When I first set my tank up 9 months ago I never had this problem.
Now it seems like every time I clean the tank my powerhead will fall for no apparent reason.
I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem:confused:

It happens sometimes. Try cleaning the spot where you are attaching it really well, and see if gunk has accumulated on the suction cups. My powerheads seem to stick better when both the glass and the cups are really clean. HTH.

That's a really good idea...You could probably rig something up. Maybe using a coat hanger or small over-the-door hook or something. Hmmm, will have to think about that one.

I didn't mean a metal one! Duh...I'm new but not that new. lol.
I was just thinking maybe you could use the hook part of a plastic one and then maybe tie the powerhead on with fishing line or something.

I think you're supposed to wet the suction cups first.:D
just kidding.

I take the suction cups off and clean them in hot water for a little while to get that slippery coat off that can build up on them after awhile. And then I scrape the glass because sometimes you won't even see the film that thin layer that can build up and prevent the suction cups from sticking well.

When I was using powerheads, back in the day, I would silicone them in place. Or make an acrylic bracket that I could screw to the suction cup holes with nylon screws.
Good luck!
