powerhead killer

I have 2 Hagen Aquaclear 401 PH's. They have been eating fish and snails for long enough!!
How do I stop this madness?
I put a filter medium over the cap but it slows the flow dramatically. Any suggestions please.
I am ready for new additions but I refuse to do it until I solve this mess.
HELP!!

That is an interesting fix.
I'll give that a shot.
Anyone have any other suggestions for my PH's?
How do you prevent specimens from getting "sucked" to death on your powerheads?
Thanks.

I would keep the powerheads in the corners and angle the intakss toward the glass.
lagatbezan - Please explain. What kind of bioball and how did you put it on? I've got the filters that you can buy for them but they clog up weekly.....a lot of effort involved there.
Thanks.

Yea, i too got tired of feeding my powerheads $5 meals.
What i did was took a little plastic basket that hold freshwater aquatic plants and crazyglued it over the intake so it acts as a basket strainer. Very easy to do and works great !

you know the blue bio balls that come in the sumps? i took one and just placed it on the intake valve. the inward pressure of the pump keeps it in place! try it. it works. you have to do it when the powerhead is on ofcourse.
