today i found my small niger stuck on the intake of my powerhead....any way to prevent this??

put a guard around it, like nylon mesh or something.
LOL- one of the roseys i put in for the huma, niger, and eel, one of the roseys got stuck in the powerhead, luckily it got sucked in right so i didnt chop it up, and so my eelcomes up and gets it out of teh powerhead and ate it....

Get an aqua clear mini number 1 filter media. Cut a little hole in it,slide it on bottom of PH an voila instant gaurd, and prefilter. I clean mine every two weeks.

THAT REALLY SUCKS! IT HAPPEN TO ME 2 NIGER TRIGGERS STUCK IN BOTH 802 POWER HEADS WITH A COUPLE OF DAYS . THE FISH MOST BE STUPID LIKE ME! I E MAILED FOSTER SMITH ABOUT THAT THERE REALLY SHOULD BE A WARNING ON THE OUT SIDE OF THE BOX" USE A PREFILTER IF YOUR GOING TO USE POWER HEADS FOR CIRCULATION , NOT FOR UNDER GRAVEL FILTERS . MOST OF THERE SALES ARE FOR CIRCULATION , I was pissed because they didnt answer me back !
suprise my last order they took off 20 dollars for the problem I had , thats customer service , so i use the prefilter holder only , not the filter.
