I have had a SFE in a 55 gallon before. You have to decide on a few things.
-If you want to keep the eel, AND other fish for a little while get a bigger tank. With A SFE, you need bigger fish, therefore a bigger tank.
-If all you're going to have is a SFE, and plan on keeping it long get a bigger tank...these things grow fast, especially if kept by themselves and fed correctly.
All in all, IME I would not recommend this for your setup, but then again, what do I know? You're probably going to do what you want, and pay the price for it down the road....good luck

I agree with Frosty :D I Think that you are going to get it no matter what the "right" thing to do is. And if you do go and get it then why are you here asking questions when people like Elvis, Frosty, and I are telling you what we think is "right"?

I am sorry you feel this way but I am just happy that you listened to your fellow hobbiest. There are alot of people that ask a question and even though people say no they still think yes and I am glad that you are not one of those people.

if you want to get some good lights you could turn it into a reef..Thats what I did and I like it a lot!!

Yup, take your time creating a nice reef tank. Start with lights and LR, and who knows what you might end up with.
