I was told by my lfs that when i put my live rock in i should put some powerheads behind them so there is no dead spots in the tank. Its a 120 I was told to put them down low on the back of the tank in each coner firing right at each other. Then i guess u put the live rock around them. Is this right or should i be doing something else.

What he was meaning is: You need good flow all around your tank. Sometimes the area behind the rocks are forgotten.
You can put your powerheads low on the back and put your rocks around them to hide them from view. Put them where ever you want. Just check to be sure that the flow is good all around your tank. One way to do this is to put a very small bit of food in and watch to see where it goes. If it land on the sand bed and doesn't move, then you need more flow in that area. The food should be moved all around the tank, even if it goes behind the rocks. I should come back out. That food shouldn't stop anywhere. That is good flow.

I have also found it beneficial to use the Hydor rotating deflectors.
"The Hydor Flo is an attachment that easily fits most pumps (adapters included) giving your powerheads and filters a 360 degree rotation by force of flow with no extra cost in power consumption.
The Flo will give your aquarium better water flow and movement, increasing oxygenation while creating a wave effect beneficial to all plants and invertebrates.
Ideal for all powerheads and/or filters with a flow rate between 80 and 310 GPH."

I personally would not put a powerhead in my tank that contiuously fired in one direction. But then again, ppl will disagree here too.
