Powerheads and Wave Makers

I'm looking for advice on powerheads and wave makers:
my tank: 90gallon reef
I just replaced my 2 MaxiJet 1200 powerheads I had placed in the corners of my tank with 2 Hydor Koralia Pump 4s (also 1200 gph). I did this to get more general flow rather than "jet" directed and to get rid of those stinkin' suction cups that just became useless after about a year.
The problem is that the Koralia Pump 4 seem to be so much more powerful and no matter where I point them (reflect off front glass) it keeps displacing my sand bed to where the glass bottom is exposed. It's too bad because my corals seem to be doing so much better with the increased flow.
Should I return them to where I bought them and get the Koralia 3s or I was wondering if a Wave Maker (specifically the WaveMaster Pro by Red Sea) hooked up to the Koralia 4's could reduce the overall flow enough for them not to disturb the sand bed? Does anyone have any experience with this situation?
Thanks, you folks have always been incredibly helpful!

Just to chime in...i'm in the same boat. I'm in the 2nd week of my cycle and i have the same Koralia's and dang they are a beast. I have the same problem, but it moves all the sand from the middle and pushes it to each side of the tank. I've given up for now and will wait to see what happens when i stock. They are nice pumps though....

I have the number 2's and I gotta tell you these pumps do move lots of water. My suggestion is to place them facing eachother from each end and you will notice tha it will ripple rather than disturb yrou sand bed. I did this on my tank, and the sandblasting stopped.
