powerheads/fish

Wondering what other people use so there fish don't get sucked into their powerheads.

Most powerheads are not strong enough to such a fish into them. I've never seen it myself.

A majority of them have a plastic strainer assortment

My Penquin PHs came with a hard plastic, cone shaped strainer for keeping debris and livestock out of the intake.
my snails and hermits climb and eat off the strainer all the time without problem.
I have heard of some people using foam prefilters?!?!?!

I've lost several damsels this way. There is supposed to be some kind of guard that they sell so this doesn't happen, but I haven't found it yet. From what I understand, most healthy fish, that are large enough, won't get sucked into it. My large damsels didn't, but a small domino, and a small yellowtail did. Among other small damsels. HTH.

never had any problem with tis with my ris, but they do have a prefilter assemble that you can purchase separately to keep detritus and livestock out of the ph
