I have the type of powerheads that look like the Rio ones, but it has an airhose on the output tube, and I tried taping the tube, taking it out, but its still making bubbles n my tank. I noticed some of the little bubbles on one of my fish today so now im getting worried and i need to take care of this. Any Suggestions? :help:

Well, I don't think this is a problem. The built in air tube on power filters is there to airate your tank. I have had air bubbles on my freshwater fish, but not on my saltwater. I don't think this would cause and kind of problem eventually the fish wiil bump something causing the bubble to pop.
Is the fish acting normal?
My powerfilters dump lots of air bubble into my tank as well. I have a wave2k and 2 aquaclear power filters. IMO it will be just fine. Keep us posted

Are you sue the power heads are drawing in the air. Mine started to do the same thing, but it ended up being air bubbles comming up from the sandbed. The powerheads were just breaking them up....????

this happened to me when i started bout 1yr ago...take out the hose and does your powerhead have a little end cap that directs the flow of the water...mine did and i took it out and the bubbles were gone.

According to a friend of mine who is a sales rep for Hagen, the only reason powerheads have an airhose is that people think they need one. Dissolved oxygen gets into the water by contact at the surface, the powerhead does this by circulation. I always just fill the inlet with silicon.
