Yes , you need to clean the glass and the cups all the time.In my QT I leave a magfloat in under my powerhead to keep it from falling.

I clean and clean and they still fall down. I have two of them being held up by the rocks and another one being held up by the one being held up by the rock. The forth one is the only one holding up on its own. The mag float idea sounds good I guess I will have to buy a couple more floats. Thanks

I personally have a problem with the mag float idea. I'll tell ya why. Most powerheads operate with a magnetic field, if you place a strong enough magnet around the magnetic field of a motor you can cause it to go nutty. Some PH's have enough insulation to prevent things like this, but is it worth the problems?
How old are the PH's, what brand? Did you make sure that all of the air bubbles have been pushed out of the cups?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have a 30x gph turn over?? I'm thinking maybe your powerheads are blowing each other clear out of the tank!:notsure:

Where did you get that he had a 30 x gph? If this is true, it may pose a problem. However, if they suction cups are old then they are probably too stiff to stick to the glass anymore regardless of any other aspect.

Ahh I see. I'm running 420 gph in an 18 gallon and didn't start having problems until my suction cups started getting old and stiff.

I try to run exactly 900gph, just to be safe (hope that's safe)

The reason Iam running so much gph is I heard that helps to rid the cyno if that is what I have. The turn over rate includes mechanical filter and protein skimmer. I dont see any harm in having to much turn over, fish are usually strong enough to handle the current since the ocean is pretty brutal itself. The oldest powerhead is 7 months the others maybe 3 months old. I guess I will just keep meeing with them until they stick. Thanks

Just to be safe??? 900 GPH is the minimum for a 90 gallon.

See, now that's what I love about this sight... you learn something new everyday, I thought 10x was standard, I didn't know it mas minimum... I thank you for the info. (Sorry this wasn't even related to the original topic.)
