How long does a powerhead remain effective? Mine seem to be losing power. I clean them regularly but that has not helped. And what are the best powerheads?

What kind do you have? IMO, maxi jets are the best, Aqua clears are pretty good. I have four Maxi 1200s in my 125 and they've been going strong four over five years now. Most of the time, you simply need to replace the impellar if your losin' juice.
