powerheads

I know I'm deficient in the water flow area in my tank. It's a 55 long with an Aquaclear 500 filter (i run it 24/7 without carbon) and a prizm skimmer. I have distinct stagnant flow areas, how many powerheads should i be thinking to add.
thanks,
-leigh
ps: happy valentines day everyone :)

I run two, one on each end of the tank. One is a powersweep that does 200 or so gallons per hour and one is a standerd power head that does another 200 or so. I still have a few spots that are low flow areas for corals that like that type of flow, so I don't think I have too much flow. I also run the filter and skimmer like yourself.

If it were me, I'd at least run two saddle filters on each end of the back of the tank, right and left back, then two power heads on each side of the back pointing towards the middle front of the tank.
I have a similar setup on my 55, no skimmer, no sump on it.

cool, thanks guys, i got 2 powerheads...will point them into the tank...the filter and skimmer are on left and right back, so it's similar to what you were both saying. thanks for the advice. -leigh

where in MI are you? I am near Marquette in the UP.
By the way, I would also recommend 2 powerheads for I have a 55 with a similar setup.:)
