Right now in my 85 I have a powerhead going eight hours a day. I was told I need about 3 300 GPH powerheads. Do I run powerheads allday or just during the day or what. Does it tire out the fish!

i have a 100gal but it has a wierd shape. Its 2' deep x 3' wide. But i just used my return line to ripple the water. I had bought a 172gph powerhead and planned on buying another but with the return line it ripples the whole tank so i stuck with that. I think 3 300gph powerheads would be a tad much. I dunno tho maybe someone else will give some opinions.

You should shoot for around 10x+ turnover in your tank. Thus you would want at least 850gph total. Add your return pump all powerheads and any thing else that puts water into your tank like a hang on protien skimmer. Biggest thing is to make sure there are no dead spots.
