can someone please explain why these are so expensive? Im sorry if Im hijacking? And im not trying to insinuate that your price is too "high" but I know nothing about these

I just started collecting some other 'rarer' corals and these seem to have interest and be pricey.. looks to be my kinda style.... lol
but other "PPE's" are listed for 5 bucks a polyp? whats the difference? Is there a different name or color scheme? sorry again for the hijack Im just really curious and Id love to buy, but Id like to know what Im buying !
(I already have dendros and duncans and Im easing my way into rarer softies)
EDIT:
Thank You Don Lino I appreciate it

PPE's aka Purple People Eaters are very slow growers. They get pretty big in size, about the size of a nickle or quarter, when fully opened. What u seen for $5 a polyp was not PPE's but maybe RPE's, or your commone Plum People Eaters that dont have the green skirts.
If these can be traced back to Blane Peruns they can even sell for $75. a polyp. Thats just what they sell for coming from him...
A Thrice, sorry for the High Jack...

50$ a polyp with paper trail lineage is a good deal (comparitavly) I wouldnt ever pay that much for a zoa but your definatly offering more than a fair price if you can provide the lineage. I love to see people selling stuff well below the "going" rate as thats what it takes to drive insane prices down. congratulations. it may not mean much but I'm proud of you.

blane perun is one of the three holders of the original PPE colonies. when discovered PPE's were bland borinng crappy looking palythoas, but they colored up something fierce in the home setups. as you can see they have a very starteling appearance

I learned about them when I though I had a people eater paly a couple months ago but was mistaken so I decided to figure out what all the hype was. I'll still never pay that much for a zoa but cool stuff to know.
