Pre drilled tank question...

I have bought a pre drilled 150 tank. It has built in overflows 1 on each back corner with 2 holes in each so four holes in total. I am getting a sump....i know 2 holes are for the intake and output. What are the other two for? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Your 120 is drilled with two overflows and two returns. Thus it will drain out of each corner via the overflow (larger hole = larger pipe) and into a common sump. The return pump line will split or you will use two seperate pumps to return water into each corner (smaller hole = smaller pipe). Did you get the plumbing package with the tank? If so, open it up and look, it becomes pretty obvious when you start putting the pipes in. HTH

Thanks for the reply, I am waiting for it to be delivered. So i am not sure if it comes with the plumbing. I would think it would. I think i kinda got what your saying...still a little confused thou because the sump only has to pipes coming from it. This is why i probably gonna need someone to set it up lol...i am new to these sumps but thought i would go with a sump rather then a canister.

a pic of your setup would help . But as Randy stated and I will go over it again. You have two overflows but the process is redundant. There are three holes in your overflow box one hole feeds your sump now to make things look neat and clean the other hole is for PVC ( most likely) used to reintroduce the water into your DT now you will have if you look a third hole near the top of the overflow the pvc will exit that hole and then have some sort of linelock to finish getting the water back into your DT now for the two pipes you speak of in your Sump one could be for some auxiliary equipment feed or you can go with a designated pump for each of your returns. I hope this is not confusing. Again post a pic and i am sure members can help YOU set up your sump. NO need to pay for outside help

justin,
if you look at the center of this pic, you will see a lockline (LL) flare fitting coming out of the O/F box. this is one of 3 main returns to this tank. the source for this is a second hole in the bottom of the O/F box.
HTH you visualize it...

I will be posting pics of the tank when delivered. I dont think i will have a refug in my sump since i am doing a FOWLR setup. I most lilkely gonna buy a sump and will have a skimmer and maybe a uv sterlizer. If any of you can post links to decent sumps u think would work with my tank and its overflow setup or recommend i would appreciate it. Again my tank is 150g with two corner built in overflows with 4 pre drilled holes. here is a example of the kinda sump i am talking about and was kinda interested in getting.

And the this pic of the tank on the top looks like the one i am getting with 2 holes in each
