I don't think anyone argues whether the planet is warming. The argument is whether mankind is causing it. If you believe we are the cause you need to explain other planets in our solar system also warming.
There is NO BAN on stem cell research.....
Health care reform? We have the greatest helath care in the world. You may not like the cost of it, but we have overall the greatest system the world has ever seen. If you believe socialized medicine works then take a better look at England, Canada, France, etc. Do you want to wait in line 6 months to see a Dr.? Do you want to have to get the government's permission to get an X-ray?

I'm sorry but England does not have the best health care that is just blatantly wrong and citing life expectancy as a measure of healthcare aptitude is just stupid; clearly you're offering an opinion born out of what was probably forged from I dont know, are you making it up? Along that same logic I believe that would mean Japan has the best healthcare. Socialized medicine will breed mediocrity in a field where that is not acceptable. Furthermore, if our healthcare isn't the best in the world, then why does every able foreigner come here to have whatever treatment done?? We are always granting some kind of asylum so that some foreign jerk can come here and enjoy the fruits of the Mayo Clinic, or Johns Hopkins. I feel no responsibility towards ensuring that every lazy American has a right to free healthcare, free at the cost of my paycheck. Apologies for the rant-like flow of this poorly, yet quickly written response.

I'm writing in Stephen Colbert around election time. I don't care what people say about it being a wasted vote but all of the above canidates suck. Republican and Democrat.

I say this because there are a few things that I think must be done within the next presidenial terms. One Global Warming (yes, it really exists) needs to be recognized and dealt with, two; the stem cell research ban MUST be lifted so we as americans can advance ourselves in the medical industry, and third and finally healthcare reform must happen and happen now.
I don't think that their is a single republican that will aggressively pursue all three of these issues. As for the democrats are concerned I am not sure which will be best. I think that Barrack could be an inspirational leader. However he is very young. The Clintons are probably the best liars the country has ever seen and that can be kind of scary. Although I think she could do a good job. Ultimately I believe that Hillary and Edwards will get the Dem Nod and againdst them Giulliani with Mccain. Who will win? Who knows, there is still a lot of time left.
I know that a lot of people will wonder why I left the war out of the important themes that need to be addressed. This is because I believe that no matter who gets elected, they will end it......Hopefully.
Sorry For boring everybody.....but that is my take.
In what way are you a Republican? Just wondering how you identify with the party...

Pretty much everyone but the US has good health care (major countries). Canada has good health care and the Germans arent too bad either.
For being top dog on the planet i think the government really dropped the ball on health care.....

I can at least tell you of one who is running who has been in Congress for 10 terms, but does not participate in the (very lucrative) Congressional Retirement Plan.
And he's also never voted for a pay raise for Congress.
That man is Ron Paul

Based on what?? I've seen several studies contradicting this.
The government didn't "drop the ball", it was never meant to provide health care.
Free does not equal good, nor is it really "free". The facts are there for folks willing ot do a little research. Both Canada and the UK have routine waiting lists. For instance: One recent study sited 20% of English patients waited longer than six months for surgery... Does that soud better than our health care system?

Canada's health care issues:
CBC News
CBS News including the quaint quote "A letter from the Moncton Hospital to a New Brunswick heart patient in need of an electrocardiogram said the appointment would be in three months. It added: "If the person named on this computer-generated letter is deceased, please accept our sincere apologies..."
Another CBC article
Here
and on and on...

And whose fault is that? The governments? If people are living "pay check to pay check" then they need to get some self control, quit spending so much, save responsibly, or get a job that pays with better benefits.
We live in a country where you can work hard and improve your life.
Now, not everyone can do so, and for those we have systems in place to aid them. Is that service perfect? No. Does that mean we should break the whole system to give everyone the same crappy health care service? Heck no...
