Yeah, I agree that scarlet shrimp will not cure ICK! The shrimp in conjunction with good water quality can help keep the parasite in check if it’s introduced into your system. However, if the water goes south and your fish are stressed when ICK is introduced you will have an issue and I’d wager that the scarlet shrimp will only prove marginal in their help. Again, use a QT tank and Ick becomes a non issue…so easy.

I haven't used my qt in 3 yrs. I am not about to change anything until I have evidence that my scarlets don't work. 3 yrs, hard to dispute the facts. I have had an empty 55 G for 3 YRS!!! I am ready to boot the qt & stock it. My water flucuated when I went on a family vacation. 2 weeks. Friend helped by over feedings. I am wall to wall algae. But nate was a little high. Again, stress and no ich??

So, you'd advise everyone to toss out their QT tanks, buy a scarlet shrimp and toss all new fish right into the display without any worries? Humm, sounds like a good idea to me

I never told anyone to throw away their qt's. I always told them to keep incase of fin rot etc.. expecially since most people forget to do research on new fish & there is trouble in paradise. qt's are good to separate fighting fish.
I, personally, have no use for it. I am just spreading the good news and it is ultimately THEIR decision on their choices. WHO ever said I put a gun to their heads???!

If it works for me, I have every right to share my experiences with everyone. ISN"T THAT THE PURPOSE IF THIS SITE?????!

Well, that's not entirely true... by saying you don't use a QT because your cleaners do a great job, you are in effect saying that they take care of everything...

Didn’t you also say that you are gonna stock your 55gal qt because you don’t need it anymore because your cleaner shrimp are so effective? The problem as I see it, is that someone who’s new to the hobby may actually take what you’re saying as advice and use it

Agreed.... see the other thread a few down the list about ICH.. she and I have been going round and round about how important it is to seperate opinion from fact.
And yes, I have heard the cliff speech quite often. My fear, however, is that a new hobbyist will read something you type Aquapro_1, read your profile and TRUST you, and fail dismally as a direct result of your advice.
You said you were on the verge of stocking your QT tank.... sounds to me like you were advocating getting rid of them...

I have the digital camera, but nothing on the laptop. Not sure what to buy or how to install. To pay someone, but need laptop all the time. I deal with a lot of peoples personal info...Can't let it be violated.......
If anyone can give me instructions as to what to buy? Have a Loaded Dell laptop & a Cannon rebel XL.
I tried to scan, but since I got DSL, nothing is working right. Been emailing my docs....
Anyone have any suggestions there???

I have had my tanks longer than 3 yrs. AGAIN, bought 2 tanks. Had to learn junk on my own & posts. I was told about scarlet cleaner shrimp & have done so. Yeah, Visited fenners site & that is how I got to where I am, so YEAH! I lived by his words. Now, like most smart people. I learned & applied my knowledge. About the copper, said "Most people will come back & tell you to do this:" TOO STUPID TO READ I SEE!!
I stated I don't know much about live rock, just what I have read! LEARN TO READ SH*t face!! Fish don't need current, never anywhere in any book does it state they do! Just corals & Polyps etc.. Crushed coral isn't alive like I said.
I talked about ASHTRAYS!! WHITE ASHTRAY SAND CAUSES CANCER, THAT IS WHY AGAIN IF YOU WERE INTELEGENT ENOUGH TO READ....I STATE ASHTRAYS NOW HAVE BLACK SAND!!! MY husband took some sand home for my kids to play with & I am glad they did not. THERE IS A LAW SUIT PERTAINING TO WHITE SAND BECAUSE IT CAUSES CANCER!!!
