was going to set up a saltwater aquarium with only fish, my tap is clean but i was wondering if using prime was still safe for saltwater, compared to RO water.

Welcome to the forums. I hope you enjoy your stay.
If you don't mind algae and cyanobacteria issues, you can dechlorinate your tap water and use it. Just use prime on your tap water, wait one or two hours and aerate it with an air pump and air stone and then you can mix it with salt for water changes or top off your tank.
Do I recommend doing this? No.

This what I read through skimming that post and I had a mean look on my face. LOL. And I knew Seth would not recommend it.
I have seen WAY too many reasons to not use tap water

Hi welcome to the forum.
To answer your question, yes, you can do it.
I agree with snake though. I made the mistake of doing this and had a HUGE hair algae issues.

Using tap water is semi OK, mostly not as you have already heard. However, don't forget that you will need water to replace evaporation, and that cannot be tap water, and must be RO or you will eventually have insurmountable problems from the accumulation of toxins in your tank.
