Prizm or SeaClone?

Okay I was going to get a 30 gal tank with 45 lb. of lr and 15 lb. crushed coral of (won't use all of the coral just 5-10 lb. probally) and 30 lb. of aragamax sand. What skimmer would be better the SeaClone Skimmer Up to 100 gal ($67.99) or a Prizm Deluxe Skimmer up to 100 gal ($89.99 w/ pump). I know being that both skimmer's max tank size is 100 gal (70 more than my tank) they are skill the best/cheapest skimmers. Opinions and insight greatly welcomed. And does the SeaClone come with a pump?

Ive had both...and man, dont waste your time getting either of them, they both take forever to collect the junk..I think a AquaC Remora would be good for you..it goes for $150-160, a little more expensive but a lot more worth it.

I second that on the AquaC Remora I have one it works great takes the YUCK right out of the water, works fast and u can't hear it running :cheer:

I have both of the skimmers you are looking at an they work great. I guess it also depends on if you are doing reef or non reef. If you are just starting out go slow. You can always get a better skimmer later.

I chose the Prizm Pro Deluxe instead of the Aqua C Remora because it was cheaper and got fairly good reviews. I wish I had spent the extra money on the Aqua C. The prizm is hard to tune...I always have micro bubbles to deal with. When I do get it tuned right..it works well...it's just hard to tune.

I wouldn't get either skimmer either, look at cpr bak pak or aqua C.
Also do not put cc in your tank, it will only cause problems, go with the sand.

ok heres my 2 cents...
i had the prizm deluxe and i returned it in 1 day for a seaclone 100. my seaclone 100 skimmed in ONE night.. heres the thing tho, ur water just has to have organic wastes in it..i had decomposin LR in my tank so it worked.. i duno y everyones hatin on seaclones.. they manufactur a billion of em in so many BIG stores like ***** and petsmart, etc.. so go with the seaclone..

I would def. say go with the Prizm... I have had mine for a while now and it is silent and gets the job done.

I have a seaclone that I am satisfied with on a 30g reef. It is my small tank so it doesn't get the bells and whistles of the big tank (can't afford it). Saying that, I would get the best skimmer that I could afford even if I had to put money to the side for it.

I have the seaclone 150 and it does its job for what its worth. Sure, I could probably get twice as much skim with a Euroreef but if you don't mind tweeking the air intake, it works.

I have the prism and I am getting mad at it because like flipper has said, it's hard to tune it right and I am tired of it. Planning to get the remora pro for my next tank. I would give the remora another vote. Definitely saves a lot of money down the road I would say although they do cost a little more of the other two.

I also have had both...I personally wouldnt wastet the money on the Prizm skimmers..as mentioned earlier, they are very hard to tune just right.
I just bought a Seaclone only becuase a friend got one about a month ago as an emergency skimmer when his Urchin broke, well he hasnt fixed nor got a new Urchin....I am not in anyway sasying it's better than the AquaC skimmers.
I remember Seaclones being a tall piece of crap, but for some reason this thing really does a great job...if you place it in a sump then just make sure you place a sponge on the output so that the mini-bubbles break up before going back upto main tank, although there is no scientific proof they hurt anything.

Well that's great but I'm going to have to go with the majority and get something besides a Prizm or SeaClone, probally a Bak-Pak. Thanks a lot though mujtba for your advice and help, and everyone else.

i have the prizm and i like it. it doesnt get out really super dark skimmate but its dark enough for me. mujtba i have to question your settings in you skimmer that is alot of skimmate per day, unless you have a small collection cup. i empty mine out once a week. but then again i have a 32 ounce cup on my skimmer. you might be over feeding or have an over populated tank. the prizm is light a rodchester carbuerator (if anyone knows about hotrods) if you have it set right it would kill a holley but if its not setup right the you will hate it. i make adjusting my skimmer part of my daily tank maintanance. it takes me about 30 sec to adjust it again.

i dont think i have a small collection cup. its the regular cup in a seaclone 100. i dont have any livestock.. its prolly skimmin cuz of my uncured LR. but in any case, its workin! so many people kept sayin its corny.. but im like, are you just followin the hype and tryn to pay more cuz the seaclone is workin!! i mean the guy at the LFS said he uses it too. he could have sold me another one.. anyways glad ur prism works for u.

i have the seaclone 100 on my 20 gallon. it works great on that tank but anything bigger than a 30 gallon you might want to get a remora.
birdy, what is wrong with crushed coral? i know a lot of people that use it with no problems. just wondering. thats the first time i've heard that.
