Prizm skimmer: useless!

I dropped my Seaclone 100 and broke it so I decided to try something different. I got a Prizm Deluxe and it was absolutely useless. It took me a good half hour just to get the thing primed so it would run at all and then HOURS of adjusting it with no results. It would either foam all the way out the top and fill the reservoir in a few minutes or not foam at all. There was no in between. Just thought I'd give a shout out to say don't EVER buy one of these things! It is so poorly designed it wouldn't even fit on the back of the tank (hang on) without modification with a dremel *and* adding a spacer to get it level. Since my Seaclone 100 worked fine until I dropped it, I decided to just get the 150 and it's on there now. Works fine. I know AquaC and Coralife are the choice here, but for the money, the Seaclones really do work fine and I never had any issues with keeping my 100 adjusted.

huh, I have one and it works great. Took a couple days to get it adjusted but after that no problems. Sorry you had a bad experience with it.

I've also got a Seaclone 100 and have no problems with it, and it pulls out more stuff than you would believe. IDK, maybe we just got lucky?
What a pain in the arse you've been having though, eh? Sorry 'bout that.

I have the prism deluxe, I put a little air regulator on the tube which helps ALOT. It seems to be working pretty well. I don't really get a foam in the canister I get a disgusting foul green water. I'm new to this but it seems like it pulls this crap out so it must be decent. The air regulator definitaly helped though. Do you have the bubbles peaking at just the top of the neck portion?

i think they work amazing if you just take your time and have a bit of patience and let them break in..takes about 2 days but then they run great!

I left it in there for 3 days. I'd set the level so that it is at the o-ring per the manual and it would sit for a few hours that way with nothing going into the collection tank and then the next morning it would be full of clear water and it'd be pouring from the collection cup back into the tank. There's really no way to adjust this thing so it is stable. It either does nothing or it bubbles over, filling the tank in just a few hours.
I even tried putting an air adjuster valve on the air tube so I could adjust that and there was still no way to get it to work. I guess I could have had a bad unit as they do seem to be constructed quite poorly. I basically had to force water through the intake tube to get it primed.

i got a coralife super skimmer and its awesome. I was kinda dissapointed in it wheni had to drill out the other hole on the silencer to get it to work but after that the skimmer was one of the best thing i bought.

I have a prizm deluxe. During the cycle it was near impossible to get it right and it would either do nothing or pretty much just take out a bunch of water....but now with fish in, it takes off a nice dry foam, that makes a delightfully scummy crud pile in the cup and i am happy.

Had a prizm. Needed a lot of constant adjustment for the same reasons you stated, one day nothing, next day full of water. Don't know why but the water level in the prizm constantly changes. Got rid of it and went with Aqua C Remora. Low maintenance, much easier to adjust and clean.
