I have had my prizm and just recently moved my tnak like 5 feet to a stand and when I went to turn it back on it just throws tons of bubbles out even on the almost closed setting. Suggestions?
you can put a air control valve on the air intake tube, but personaly i think the prizm skimmer is poor quality to begin with. you will have much better results with a better skimmer in my opinion.
Have not heard very many good things about the prizm, but that is a moot point. I have the same problem with my Precision Marine HOT-1 from time to time. I have found that if I just leave it alone, it gets back to normal within 24-36 hours.
I found the prizm to be somewhat unreliable. Had to fiddle with it all the time. Finally ditched it in favor of a much bigger unit. Recently hauled out the old thing again to put on my Q-tank. So far it is working, but I still have to monkey around with it frequently.
Wow, I actually like my prizm, and contrary to what's been said, have heard good things about it. It just has a break in period. Even though it says rec. for tanks up to 90 gal, I wouldn't use it on anything over 50.
I have one running on a 29G tankfor about 5 months now. So far i'm more satisfied than not. Like other have said i find that after water changes or when it was new it needed about 24 hours to break in before the bubles stop. A question I have is did you purchase the regular or delux? The delux provides a media basket and a surface skimer for and additional $10 or $15 dollars. What I found was that by inserting some media (your choice) in the media basket. I was able to open the valve for greater skimming yet got less air bubles in the tank. I have never seen the items sold seperatly so you might want to contact the company they might help you on just purchasing one it helped me.
Wish they had a pro version when I bought my prizm. I don't think red sea sells attachments for the regular model- they don't even have the pro deluxe version on their web site.
