Problem with Chiller

I bought a used chiller months ago (1/2hp resun C0500). She was selling it at $300 so I thought it was a good catch, since summers here are really hot! I have an aggressive setup 125g FOWLR, water temperature here can easily rise to 90 degrees. I installed it two days ago, with the return pump I had (2400), the water movement decreased too much so I'll have to change that. Ok now to the problem, since I turned it on, the temperature is really off.. I wanted the tank temp to be at 78, so I started tweaking with the temp controller, when the tank's temp was at 78, the chiller said 84. So, I set it up at 84, but I've noticed that the chiller turns off when the tank temp is about 76, and turns on when it is at about 82... I think the degree interval is too much!
Someone told me I should buy a temp controller and adapt it to the chiller...anyone has any experience with this? Is the chiller just adapting? should I leave it alone some more days? Anyone has any experience with this chiller? I've looked online for a manual or something and can't find it!

Thanx
