Hi all, We have either a donut or a tooth coral, not sure witch. Heres my ?, it has turned almost trasparent, it looked like a pile of raw meat up until about a month ago, We started using Reef Solutions since and I was wondering if that could cause the change in color. If not that does anyone have any ideas. I have a pic posted on our web page of how it looked. Any info would be great!
I should also add that all the readings in the tank are normal and the only change in the coral is the color, the shape and size is all the same. Any help at all would be great! Thanks Lisa [ September 09, 2001: Message edited by: BLUEBERRYBOOMER ]

I think its a Cynarina sp. or a Scolymia sp. Do you have power compacts? They are prone to bleach under PCs, not sure why though. I have only heard good things about reef solutions so I dont think it caused the problem.

dlight692000, it shrinks up a very little bit, not much though.
ADRON420, We have 4-96watt pc and 12000K mh 400watts. It kinda looks like it could be bleached, it looks very happy except the color. Is there anything I could do to help with the color now, is it going to die?

Try moving it into an area with a little shade if possible. Those corals prefer moderate to low lighting.

Im with spy, try to get it in some indirect light, they come from deeper waters and do not appreciate too much light. Good luck.
"Sorry, your site has too many links to competitors" its starting to feel a little communistic around here :(

Then by all means show it off, Thanx.
Then it may not be getting enough light. Usually bleaching can be fixed by changing the light and/or adding better food.
Try giving it more light and some silverside if you don't already.

Thanks BurnNSpy, we will try moving him and giving him some silversides. Fixit has tried giving him brine when feeding the tubastrea and he spits it out. But all his fingers are out when we feed DTS or black powder. I'll let you know what happens when we move him and see if we can get him to eat silversides. Thanks again, Lisa

dlight692000, it might be called a modern coral where your from, around here its called a meat or a button coral. I find it less confusing to use the genus or the species that way you know exactly whats being talked about. Common names differ too much from person to person to be specific.
