So I recently upgraded my 15 gallon LPS and SPS tank to a 40 gallon which I plan to dominate with SPS from here.
My old setup was super basic, I didn't even do any testing but I feel I was pretty successful I only lost 2 corals and that was when it overheated
On this larger setup I have really tried to step it up. I purchased a Neptune aquarium controller and a Maxspect razor 160watt. My return pump moves 650GPH through my sump as well as a vortech MP10 set at about half power for water movement.
I calibrated the PH probe a few days ago and was upset to see that my Ph has been hovering between 7.8 and 7.95
I got it up to 8.05 last night when I started dosing kalk with my ATO
The PH did not drop as far last night as it has been previously going down to 7.79 last night got to 7.89 but this still seems to low to me.
I have not tested for magnesium but my Calcium and Alkalinity levels seem good I am not too familiar with the test kits but from what I got my calcium is at 450ppm and my alk is at 11.5 dKH
my other parameters are perfect ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 0 I do not have a phosphate test but I do run GFO and chaeto in my refugium and I only have 2 clowns so I feed very lightly
what can I do to try and bring the PH up more? from what I understand my calcium and alkalinity are on the high end of the spectrum so I was afraid to use alot of kalkwrasser I put 3.5 tsp in 4 gallons of water
I will post some pictures in a few minutes. Everyone loves pictures
