problem with pumps

i have a quiet one 3000 thats running on my protein skimmer.when the skimmer is turned off then plugged back in, the impellar wont turn. if i bump the impellar it will start turning and run fine. When i turn it off again it will be stuck till I bump it. I have cleaned it so i dont think thats it. any idea whats wrong with it? also recently my main pump has been acting up. it is a mag drive model 18b. it is just not pushing very much water. when i got home today it basically wasnt pushing any water but it was still running. i have checked to make sure it is clean and there are no clogs. is this thing shot or is there something i can do to fix it? both these pumps are around three years old. any ideas? thanks

What have you done exactly to clean these pumps? Have you verified that the impeller assemblies are intact, and that no vanes on the impeller are missing?

well i took the covers off and made sure everything is intact. nothing broken. i made sure there was no build up inside where the shaft sits and on the shaft of the impellar itself. i read to use white vinegar to clean it. everything looks good to me.

Quiet ones can have start up issues like Rios, but Mags usually last for years. How is the side to side clearance on the impellers? If the shaft is worn it can make the impeller run to close to the wall of the motor and run slower or not at all. You might need the shaft and the impeller. Theres not to much else to go wrong with these pumps.
