I have purchased several items from a person on the web. They have a web site for corals ect. After paying $90.00 for a lot of 6 different items (plus shipping). I searched under his ---- user name and found the exact same items, the auction sold for the identical items for 51.00 on ----,same pictures as what is on his site that I purchased. I asked him about this and he said mine would be allot bigger then what is on ----. Well, they arrived, 4 of the 6 items are less then 1/2" tall on a little rock. One fell of in the bag and died. The two xenia are fine. Also bought snails, wonderful. Anyway. I emailed him about the tiny things that I paid allot of money for and he will not reply to my emails. Anyone have a suggestion on how to get his attention? I spent about $170.00 includeing shipping with this place. Only to get teanie tiny stuff. The web site is called Captive Corals. Any help in recouping some of my cash (paypal payment) would be appreciated. I have pictures of what he sent also.I have included a picture of two of the items on the rocks, you can even tell what they are. Thanks

personally i dont shop for sw stuff on ---- but do not think that there is a way to get a refund
Your best bet is to go to a LFS for your future SW needs.

i doubt that you will ever see a dime. Its hard to once you receive the product. You could try but i would bet that you would just be waisting your time.
sorry for your loss

Thanks all, goes to show that you can't trust allot of people. we had allot of conversations about what he was sending, told me they would be around 4 to 6 inches tall. What a joke. I will do what I have to to recoup, if it means ruining his business. Thanks

Wow,
If I guessed their web site correctly(pretty easy guess) They look so promising. Their site shows beautiful examples, but as you found out the hard way, they were too good to be true. $90 isn't much for 6 different corals...makes them $15 each, most LFS's start even their tiny corals at about $25 each. Although those in the picture are pathetic.
I only see 2 or 3 items big enough to pick out(and one looks dead), what all was included?
If you want to knowingly buy small corals that grow fast, for a nice price(some very rare), there is a site called GARF(Geothermal Aquaculture Research Foundation) I won't mention the actual domain. All of their corals are cuttings, and are aquacultured, grown and propogated in their own aquariums. They come attached to aragrocrete(home made rock)plugs, and include reef glue to attach them to your rock. They really do support a good cause by saving dying wild corals, then propogating them and selling the cuttings. You get a free coral with every order as well. I won't mention their prices here either as it may be a considered a conflict of interest(gotta keep the mods happy :) ), but if you want the site, or a link to their coral order page(it's kind of hard to find), let me know.
Once my tank is ready, I will definately be considering them.
I don't work for them or anything, I just support their cause.
Thanks,
-David-

Thanks for the terrific responses, just an update, when I told the man that I bought them from that I would pursue getting part of my money back for what I was unhappy with. He aggreed that he did NOT send what I thought that I was getting , The refund was made to may paypal account yesterday and we have been able to work out the problem to everyones satisfaction. To be fair, I also bought salt snails from him and they are huge, about the size of a a Kennedy .50 piece and wonderful. Also several pullsating xenia. They are ok, not as big as he said they would be but they will grow.
Just wanted everyone to know that they did at least recitfy the situation.
Yes I will be going to that site to see what they have. We have a great salt water store here and the prices are great, but they dont get much new stuff in. So wanted something different for my tanks.
2-20 gallon long tanks
each has 20 lbs live rock,(or more)
30 lbs live sand
one has pink sand
loads of snails,
red leg crabs
brittle stars in each tank
one whiteish brown cucumber
several fish in each.,
loads of long tentical anemonies in each
huge leather,8" across at the top
gobies in each.
tangs
blue and sun lights on both with duel lights.
filers include
one tank has aquaclear300 and Fluval 303
one has a new filter that has a skimmer and filter all in one,
and a aquaclear 303 also,
Both kept at 78 degrees.
both have skimmers.

awe christ your right, unless that is something differebnt than a 20g. By the way for future knowledge, you can get him kicked off e-bay for selling live animals.

Tang police? Oh Oh, lol, it is legal by ---- rules to sell fish on ----, I have it in writing form them and have it saved on a floppy for future reference. Anything fishy can be sold on ----.

OHHH, I see, well , he is a lucky fellow, he first spent a few weeks at the local SW store in a 6X6" cube. then he was sold to someone who kept him in a 6 gallon tank for almost 6 months. I bought him and now he is in heaven. I have had him for over a year and he hand feeds, follows me around when I walk back and forth in front of the tank, and will kiss thru the glass, so , he is a happy little tang. So don't worry, not all of them need 55 to survive and be happy.
I do however have a 50 gallon octogan that I will be setting up and when it has cycled and ready for fish a few months after that , he will be going into that to live out his life. Don't worry all. he is happy.<img src=http://www.kandjenterprises.net/tang1.JPG>

That's very unfortunate. This is why I stick with my LFS for all live purchases. I'm all for Dry Goods online, but unless you can see and hand-pick the livestock, they're is no guarantee. Hope everything works itself out.
