Ok so about a month ago I bought a octupus HOB skimmer. It worked GREAT and I love it. Well ive been away for awhile and haven't been able to a water change until today. Everything went fine until I turned the skimmer back on. All the cups do is fill with foam and clear water. No skim or anything else. It fills in about 10 seconds and I even sat there for 40 minutes emptying one cup after another and still nothing. I got a little fustrated and finally just turned it off and walked away. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I dont think you can adjust the flow on a octupus HOB. Mine never came with a manuel. Any suggestions? Thanks

You need to raise your collection cup. I had that happen as well. There should be some space between the tube and lid. Just lower your o-ring and wait.

Theres also thousands of bubbles coming from the outlet which means there is alot of bubbles coming into my tank. Any advice?

have you been adding any chemicals? I once use some decloranator when i did a water change and it made my skimmer go crazy for days. I had to turn it off and then everything was ok. Lesson learn!

hi. got your pm. i don't know anything about octopus skimmers actually.
there has to be an adjustment on it though. i don't think i've ever seen a skimmer without one.

did you actually take it off the aquarium and clean/clear out the entire air path including the hole thru the venturi on the pump and air silencer if equipped to free it of any salt deposits or debri. ANY (even small) restriction in the airline or path will cause less air draw which in turn causes more water draw and overflowing. you dont want too careless with a HOB maintenence as a floor full or water is no fun.
And I thought Mr. X was a ASM man not an Octopus man.

if it is overflowing, check that the air line is not blocked with salt creep, also check the connection where the air line meets the pump.

that connection is pretty crappy on octopus skimmers(easily displaced or outright coming off altogether)
