Please tell us more. What sized tank do you have? What other fish do you have? How long ago did you get the fish?

I have had him for 6 months in a 110 gallon with a dogface puffer and a yellow tang.
everything was fine then his sail had a large chunk out of it! he is 5 inches long the other two are about the same size I don't know what happened!

watch for aggression. keep your water quality and food quality high and it should heal.

I agree with NEreef. There is aggression. Find out if the tang is biting him or the puffer.

i would make sure the fish is getting enough fat, from something meaty, and add some vitamins like selcon or vitachem to its food.

No meds required- just like everyone said keep an eye out for aggression. Once in a while fish will nip at each other for no reason, dont mistake that as aggression, if they are constantly chasing each other then u have a problem.
