In a 46 that doesnt sound bad for a pet store. U guys have to remember that for a business, they cannot be putting like 3 fish in each display tank. Thats just absurd, and they wouldn't sell much. The fish arent there for that long anyway. YES, I myself have actually seen problems. I went to one the other day and all of the clowns were mixed, plus in like a 15 gallon long they had 5 yellow tangs (small) plus an ACHILLES TANG and I think a mandarin. I wanted to buy that achilles so bad and bring it back to my lfs where hed put it in a nice big tank, but I didnt have the money, and I didnt even have room in MY tank to keep it for a while. Still, u have to think logic. They dont know specific requirements, and they would actually lose money if they display fish properly. :nope:

If a PET store doesn't know specific requirements about PETS that they sell, then they should not be selling them. Don't make excuses for them Chandler04. It's as simple as that. Look at it this way. If a restaurant didn't know the specifics about making a certain food, they would not offer that food on their menu. This is the same way pet stores should be. The problem in this theory is that there are not enough knowledgeable people in the pet industry so these pet chains like ***** and PetSmart hire people just to have bodies working in the fish section because as most people think: "eh, it's just a fish. How much care does it really need anyway?"...
Until there are more intelligent people available to work at these places, you will run into this problem. You can look at it from a animal's perspective or a business owners perspective. The business owner knows about the fish, but he can't be in every section at once. Thus, he has to hire people just to stand in these sections and sell things. He probably does not want to hire these people, but sometimes, it's a last resort. I think the best solution to this problem is for these chain stores just to stop offering fish. Pet chains should leave it to the local fish stores to handle the sales of fish because most pet chains do it very improperly and probably lose a lot of money anyways.

Im just pointing that out. I know its wrong, but no reason to yell at me. U have to think from their point of view is all. The really good stores, you can tell that they care somewat about their fish, but they cannot prepare to have every speices out there and have a habitat ready for them so they can stay for a week, then go to a new home. Referring to a restaurant is not a good example at all. In fact, if you saw wat went on BEHIND the doors, you might not like it. So, lets end the topic. There are good stores, there are bad stores, but in the end, all they want is $$$$$$$$$$.

I wasn't yelling at you Chandler04, and I am sorry it came out that way. I was just trying to make a point, and it was in no way intended to sound like it was yelling at you.
The restaurant may not be the best example but it gets the job done as far as making the point I was trying to make.
Overall, no hard feelings. I wasn't trying to start any sort of war so I won't say anything further either.
