Well, I've experienced the first problem, setback, or whatever you want to call it with this tank.
Last night, I came home from work to find a little bit of water sitting on the fishroom floor. It turns out that the sump cracked in the area around the Kent float valve and water was weeping out of the crack (not at a very fast rate fortunately). I had halfway expected to find this at some point, as I noticed some stress marks in the glass a week or so ago. So I was already in the process of having a sump built (I would DIY, but there is just no time right now) by MRC. Lucky for me, I ran across a local who is selling the EXACT sump I was about to order from MRC and will pick it up this afternoon.
So currently the cracked sump is completely drained and the tank is running on the closed loop and Wavebox. I'm hoping to have the new sump in place and running by the end of the day, and I'll get some pics going when that's done.

I picked up the new sump last Thursday and got it running by Friday evening. The sump wasn't drilled at all, so I needed to put a couple of 1" holes in place for the return pump and skimmer pump.
Here is a shot of the new sump in place (the return pump is off to the left; the Mag 12 seen in the return pump chamber is the feed pump for the chiller):

It was a little scary drilling holes in a sump that I just shelled a few hundred bucks for, but they needed to be there for the pumps. So I swung by Home Depot to pick up a bi metal hole saw and sat down with some water and a whole lot of patience to drill some 1" holes.

That is really cool. People may have quicker loads if they click this one though http://x200.putfile.com/videos/b8-12314393188.mpg . It doesn't contrain it inside that webpage. Post any more cool videos you take. Great work!
The reason I got that link is so I could save it to my computer as I want to show my dad. For those of you who would like to save it as well, just right click, then "Save As".

My wife thinks I'm crazy too! But she enjoys this tank much more than any that we've had set up before.
Unless you're a gazillionare, used or DIY is the way to go when setting up a large tank. Even with some unexpected expenses that popped up (namely the sump cracking), the total costs for the tank and room will total well under $4,000; plus, I had alot of equipment left over that I didn't use that I turned around and sold to make up for a decent chunk of that amount.

Feel free to save it and show it as much as you'd like! Hopefully, I'll be able to improve my video skills with my digicam or borrow a camcorder and get some better videos up soon.

700g...awesome!!!
All of the pics that were posted before late-April disappeared during SWF.com's switchover to the new message board. I don't know if they'll return, but if not, I still have the pictures saved and can repost them later on.

Great looking set-up...
I've been looking in on your posts for the past few weeks just to see the progress. Read about the wavebox and been shopping around for one to go in my 300 gal. As far as wave speed goes I've heard that the resonance on a 96" tank is just about perfect for them. Just a couple of questions...
How long is your tank ?
How high are the crests of your waves?
Do they cause any problems with your overflow boxes not working properly?
Just wondered what you think of them as far as random water movement goes. Been looking at a 4 way or 8 way alternating current system but will have to do some major work to get the system going, but the wavebox seems like a very simple instal.
Thanks for the opinons!

From other tanks I've seen running the Wavebox, 84"+ tanks have a nice speed. In the video I posted above, some of the corals can be seen swaying in the wave. The video isn't of high quality, but it gives a general idea. I'll try to get some higher quality videos of some areas of the tank that really show how the wave moves in my tank.
My tank isn't quite 96"; it's 92"L x 30"W x 24"H.
The wave crests are about 3/4" high. I have corner overflow boxes which scrape some of the height off of the waves, but the rest of the tank moves well.
The overflow boxes handle the waves well. The level inside the boxes fluctuates about 1/2" with each wave, but that's not enough to cause any problems with the drains.
Personally, I feel that the Wavebox is about the best method for creating random water movement on the market. There is not a single deadspot to be found in my tank with the Wavebox running. Granted, there are only two directions the water flows with a Wavebox, but if you have enough flow in addition to the Wavebox, those streams of water will crash against the ebbs and flows of the waves and create all sorts of random water movements.

That sucks that all of those pictures got erased. I just found this thread and I really wanted to see them. The video was awesome.
