Proper Lighting with Metal Halide

I am considering (2) 400w 6500K lights for my 55 gallon tank. I want to have all aspects of lighting covered so I dont have to be worried about it when I am looking at purchasing something for my tank. Is this enough? Too much? and will I have to worry about heat problems? If so how do I fix this?

In my opinion that is a great deal of lighting. Heat can be an issue with metal halide lighting but it is my understanding that a 55g tank shouldn't have much of a problem as long as you have fans running on the lights (or in the hood if you have one).
My only concern is that having those particular lights will give off very yellow lighting. Is that something you want? I hear that that kind of lighting gives great coral growth, I personally don't find it aesthetically pleasing. You could potentially cut down to 2x 250watt 6500 MH bulbs and add in some VHO or PC actinics to make the lights not look as blue.
BTW, where do you plan on getting that stuff? Decent price? If so, please give me a ring at vlondi@gmail.com
Thanks! Good luck with your lights.

You should get the 6700K and 2 VHO 110 antincs that will make it white and have lots of growth. And on a 55 you only have to do 175 watt metal halide.
