aaaand, you get great benefits from being married!!!
the tax benefits out weight the marriage benefits!!
California no longer has the "common law" clause. Yipee!
The only differenace between marriage and a long term realtionship is a piece of paper.
Seriously.
Here is the perfect proposal:
One of my really good frineds had gone to Hawaii w/ her bf about 6 years ago and they stayed at this really nice place on one of the Islands.
So he tells her that he would love to go again a couple of years later.
He goes all out, amazing hotel, perfect walks on the beaches and all the fun things you can think of. On one of the last days he takes her to go on a helicopter ride and as they are passing a GORGEOUS waterfall that is amazingly huge he proposed!!
My bother asked all of us to come to dinner for his (???anniversary) to celebrate it with them. (Just so you all know I was a total ninny on this and had no clue!!)
So during dinner my brother starts talking about how much his GF means to him and how she has stuck with him through all the good times and bad times blah blah blah......well my brother is a goober and NEVER talks about anything emotional NEVER!!
So I turn to my mom and say "Oh my God, if he proposes to her I am going to SH** my pants!!!"
Well he did.
My six year old nephew and myself were the only 2 who had no idea what was about to happen!!!
