Protein Skimmer Problems

I don't understand, I have a 46 gallon bowfront with the fish listed below. Its been up for way over a year. I have a Seaclone 100 protein skimmer, and its not really skimming anything anymore......I have tried all the different settings with the venturi tube, and still cannot get much to skim....could it be possible that my water parameters are that good (I don't really think this is possible). I feed the fish almost everyday....sometimes I'll skip a day on purpose every week, I have a long tentacle anemone in the tank. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have noticed lately that my skimmer goes in cycles. A couple times a month it puts out alot and then slows. I have a berlin classic so it is a little diffrent than a sea clone.
Water changes can also affect a skimmer. When doing changes, your are basically removing some of the dissolved organics that the skimmer removes.
Another problem could be the pump running the skimmer. If it is dirty or has gunk, as I cal it, on the impelar it will drasticaly slow the water flow. This will cause the skimmer to not produce as much bubbles thus slowing the skimmers output.

So, do you think that I should take off the skimmer and run the pump in some really hot water and clean it out really good....I just want to make sure I don't kill all of my tank inhabitants.

I have two seaclone 100's. occassionally take off the venturi and foam and rinse out in cold water, take the plastic tubing off and run cold water down it with the screw off. blow it out good and replace. Takes care of the skimming.

seaclone 100 is the same unit I have and the water level in my tank has to be kept at or above the return spout or it doesn't skim a thing. In other words my water level has to be high, hope this helps.

Not skimming will not kill your tank mates. Taking the pump and tube off and running hot water over it will clean it out. I also use vinegar to clean mine.
