Protein skimmer question.

I have a jebo protein skimmer...yes I know that it isn't a good skimmer but that's what I have right now. My question is for those of you who don't have a jebo skimmer. Does the lid on the collection cut have holes in it? I have taken the lid off of my cup and it seem to get more skimmate than I do with the lid on. So I'm thinking maybe the collection cup may need air, or maybe its just a coincidence.

The collection cup on my sump skimmer has 2 holes.....My other 2 skimmers do not, but they are also rectangular,

LOL..I have no clue if that matters or not

I've had a coral life and a Prizm neither have holes in the lid. Maybe you need to adjust your water flow in to it. if I set mine to low it doesn't skim as well.
