Protein Skimmer

Just wondering what kind of Protein Skimmers you guys suggest I use. I have a 55 gallon fish only tank with a 20L sump that has a pretty large wet/dry filter I constructed. I plan on slowly converting the fish only to a FOWLR and then maybe a year from now convert the whole system to a 125 gallon reef system. Any protein skimmer you suggest I use to place in my sump that will work for my 55gallon setup now and then also be large enough for the 125 gallon setup in the future? Sorry guys, big time newbie, trying to get into the hobby.

Oh also, I have a couple yellow tangs and I was wondering what you guys think about the Tang Heaven stuff available from ipsf.com Is it easy to grow? Do you think I could grow it in my sump and have a sort of cheap refuge? Also what kind is the best, red, gold, or green?

for the skimmers i would either go with like a euro-reef of a PM (precision marine) :yes:

Go with asm skimmer because they perform as good as a euro-reef but are made out of clear pvc instead of acrylic which doesn't really make a difference or go with an aquac ev series they are both great. I run the aquac ev 120 on my 46g. sps setup and it does a heck of a job.

i am using a bak pak 2 for my 55 and it works like a charm......i suggest that

Any of the 6" bodied Euro Reef skimmers would work well for both tanks. I have a Euro Reef CS6-1 that I used on a 150g, a 65g, and now a 29g that has worked like a champ on all of those tanks.
