Okay, so we were given a protein skimmer... a powerhead and 100 lbs of liverock tonight.. well we had to pay 150 for it..
but the person that brought them to us said that we should keep playing with the skimmer, adjusting it so that its not blowing tiny air bubbles into the tank.. we are still cycling and have been messing with it all night, buts it not taking the bubbles out? is this normal, and if not, how do we get it to stop..???

I don't know much about different brands of skimmers.
I really don't think you can overskim a tank, though. Some disagree, but as long as you do routine water changes to keep trace elements in check I can't see how you could overskim.

jes the way to ajust the skimmer is to open up the air valve all the way and you will get and air space in the pump tube elbow, you need to turn in the valve until you don't have an air space in the tube then it's adjusted . you will get air in the tank if you us a water conditioner or if the skimmer is new it has a break in

Seaclones seem to like to always be adjusted. They will run fine for a bit and then adjusting again.... but when they work they work fine. Look into the coralife super skimmer. Its quiet, priced reasonable and does a good job.........It uses a needle wheel in the powerhead to aerate and chop the water along with a venturin to pull in air, and usually once set, no more fiddling around with adjustments.

Like mentioned earlier they do require constant tinkering which is annoying after a bit as your seeing already.....As your tank progresses and things change you will see you'll want a better quality skimmer....Aqua C come to mind, and if you have a sump and have the room you might consider a needlewheel skimmer such as ASM, GEO, and EuroReef, and if you don't mind a little more noise and possibly more electric use you could go for raw skimming power which you'd get from a Beckett skimmer....They really pull and are used for raw skimming power, but do need to be kept clean and adjusted....For these skimmers you would be looking at MRC, Barrs, Precision Marine are a few....HTH
