Look at the top left side of this page and you will find corals to look at.

not trying to push u, but ur best bet is to put in as much live rock as u can now, because it will help ur cycle, and then u wont have to add it later on. this will save u money and a lot of time in the end.
and live rock by me is $3.99 a lb, and during the holidays i think its like $2.50

Live rock is very important. It provides habitat, buffers pH and other trace elements, and also helps with natural filtration.
A protein skimmer is also crucial, imho.

I have a hang on the back of the tank skimmer that stays on all the time. When you see all the crap it pulls out you will be glad you have one.

I THINK that is a sump you are referring to but I don't have a sump so I'm not familiar with them.

Depends. If you don't have a sump you would need one that hangs on the back. Either way, you always leave them installed.
Sounds like your lfs has given you some bad advice. Go out and buy yourself Fenner's "A Conscientious Marine Aquarist". That book will easily explain what you need to know to start out. What types of filtration, lighting, live rock, etc. Best investment you will ever make

My skimmer hangs on the back there is air that raises in a tube (bubbles) and they colect in a cup and is usaly a green or brown color the pick up tube is near the top of the tank. a Power head just pupms water for movement of water you just hang it on the side glass turn it on and let it move water around

Get the book my friend, get the book.
A skimmer works by mixing air bubbles with water. Bubbles form from solids in the water and carry them into a collection cup.
A powerhead is a pump that can be submerged.
