protein skimmer

i just talked my dad into makeing his 55 a reef, we know that we are gonna have metal halide dsb live rock reefrigums all that good stuff, cause i have experience with reefs y only question on equipment is what type of skimmer do u reccomend, i was thinking a berlin turbo?

I use a CPR Bac Pac 2r on my 55 and have been very pleased with it.....some say its not enough of a skimmer....but to tell the truth its done fine on my system........

can the cpr be placed in the sump because how he is going to have it set up he will be able to view from both sides

I would think so even though it is a hang on type skimmer....mine is in the refugium(behind the wall from my reef).......it hangs on the refugium same as it would hang on the tank.........but its out of sight.....maybe a submerseable would be better for your application..........some of these other folks may be able to better assist you on this
