I have one in my 30gal ?
Which type of airdriven skimmer are you talking about? Counter current airdriven skimmers use a pump to move the water and an airstone to inject the air, co-current airdriven skimmers use the airstone to move the water and inject air. The counter current versions are very effiecent I have run a couple over the years and they work well and are inexpensive to build.

i use one in my 40G. works well and efficiently. only two things annoy me a lot:
1. NOISEEEEEEEEEEEE
2. makes a looooot of microbubbles -_-
Just curious where the noise is comming from all the air driven skimmers I have seen are extremely quiet especially compared to venturi driven skimmers.
The counter current versions have no more issues with microbubbles than anyother type of skimmer but depends on the design of skimmer.
They work but are not all that effective they don't have long enough contact time, at one time they were the only option for small tanks now they manufacture several different skimmers for nano tanks that are much better.
