Protein Skimmer

I do not think my skimmer is working well. Brand new marineland it does not produce any brown stuff. I see other peoples skimmers and they have brown stuff. my tank is 90gal LR /LS. Anyone else have problems? It bubbles over and spills out side holes all I have is water in the container to dump out.
Maybe I am just new to this hobby and dont know.

you probably have too much air...You need to adjust it

This is the brown stuff. I would say you have too much water and not enough air. Could be the other way though.
