What are your plans for this tank?
Fish stock list (future fish stock list) and such
Honestly, I would run a skimmer. It's just better, but not necessary. There are plenty of people that don't run skimmers (I don't on my 14G, but do on my 155G). The heavier the bio load, the more you need the skimmer.
If you decide not to do a skimmer, you'll have to stay on top of water changes and be careful with what fish you stock (some produce a heavier bio load) and how much you feed. Also, no skimmer usually = bigger CUC to compensate.

As for size limitations in the sump, there are some decent hang on skimmers, you might want to look into that.

I have the G3 on a 155, best skimmer I've ever owned. Love the ASM line.

what would be a good hang on. Would you still recommend it even if I plan to upgrade to a 90g in the next year, would i still be able to use the same skimmer for a 75g tank to a 90g tank, or can i get an external skimmer that is outside of my sump. What one would be the best.

I just added a HOB Octopus BH300F to my 125g and let me tell you the difference is night and day. My water was crystal clear only after 2 days. This is the 1st skimmer I have owned so I compare it to anything. I can say though with no experience with skimmers, I got it hooked up some what easily and final tuning it right now. I paid $200 for it.

it's hard to beat a octo for performance or price.
I got an Octo BH100SS for my 54g about a month ago...I HATE IT!!!
It blows bubbles into the tank constantly
I talked to a few "experts" and they say w/o taking the whole thing apart and redoing it there is no FIX

I should have gotten the aqua C Remora.....I may trash the octo

Is there anything wrong with the HOB style skimmers? Or is it just the extra stuff in the tank that you can see.
