Protein Skimmers: Height vs Body Diameter

Assuming all other factors being identical, which skimmer do you think would provide better performance?:
Skimmer #1) Height=26" Body Diameter=14"
Skimmer #2) Height=36" Body Diameter=8.5"

body diameter
calculate the total volume of 26x 14 = 17.33 gallons
36x8.5 = 8.4 gallons if you run the same pump 26x 14 will have more advantage less pressure needed means less watts.
plus look at the pattern of most high end skimmer always bigger diameter not taller even the popular cone skimmer.

What you just said totaly contradicted your self.the 36x8.5 has less capacity(8.4 gallons),which means less water and more air(less pressure as you say). You ever hear of euro reef skimmers?you oughtta get on there and check out some specs.

With out knowing anything else I would say the 24 x 18. Problem is skimmers have to have the whole package. A big part if this is design. Its possible either one of those skimmers using the same pump would not make a drop of skimate. The reason you see shorter fatter skimmers is mainly because they have to fit under stands. There are a lot of variables when it comes to skimmers. Are they recirc? whats the design of the water and air entry? design of the neck? whats the design of the return? Its a lot to think about. It takes a lot of research and testing.

If that was the case my Seaclone would out perform almost all cause of its length. Like johnr2604 said I purchased a Octopus cause the seaclone wouldnt fit inder my stand. The Octopus is shorter and fatter and it skims 10x better but then again I am comparing it to a seaclone
. Most of the ones I see are usually shorter and fatter but I am not experience in this. I only get what my money lets me buy. I would of thought the shorter fatter ones were better cause less effort to make it to the top.

i used to use euro reef but its now outdated and they are trying to caught up with their recir 500 and recirc1000 but still can't compete with a lot of skimmer manufacturer out there?
heard about bubble king, atb, volcano. warner marine.
by the way what is the diameter on those?

this is the rc4000
height:80"
Diameter:18"
and is rated for a 4000gal+ system
Msrp 10k

check out jar*head atb skimmer better than euro reef that is base in so cal and no one gets euro reef anymore base on price, performance and energy effieciency.
