What size tank?
Here's my take:
I spent $60 on a skilter filter (less than adequate)
Then I spent $100 on a seaclone (more adequate than skilter but still not what I had hoped).
Then (Finally) I bought an octopus needle wheel 220 for $170 and think it's great!
Moral of the story don't buy adequate but good!
I spent way too much on less than adequate.
If you are limited to the two choices I would definitely go with a coral life. I have no experience with coral life but I've heard good things about them.

Buy yourself a Needlewheel recirclating skimmer the largest that you can afford and fit in your sump. You might spend a little more but it will be worth it. the

well, the tank is a 55g and I don't have a sump, so I'm looking at hang-on models (even though most models can do either). I was loking at the SeaClone 100g skimmer and the Coralife Super skimmer for 65g. The SeaClone sounds better becauce it is way more skimming than the Coralife.

The coralife is a much better skimmer than the seaclone...no question. Do the fishing line mod to your super skimmer and it works even better. Wrap the needlewheel with fishing line to chop the water up even more.

Well, I will get the Coralife, its still fairly inexpensive comparied to others and sounds like a good skimmer. What is the needle wheel?
