Protein Skimming

How often do you turn off your protein skimmers??? Do you let it go 24/7 or for a certain amount of hours a day??? What is about the right range to skim???

I let my beast run most the day. I have to back it down to dose and feed in the morning. Ususally for about a hour or so.

I have to back it down, not shut it off. If I do not it is pointless to dose. I have 1200 gph running threw my skimmer. It's a monster( 3ft tall).,

This is no war my friend, I mean less' you just want to. It has a drain. On the other side is a collection bucket(3gal).

I let it run 24/7 We have gotten use to the noise as well

I do agree about leaving them on 24/7. But I have a huge bio-load and some are in fact filter feeders. If I let the skimmer run wide open all day everyday then something is going to starve. So for my system, I need to back it down.
