Protien skimmer

I am getting ready to purchase a skimmer for a folr tank. I am wanting to get a good one that will be able to handle a larger tank some day when I feel good enough to add corals. If I buy a skimmer that is rated up to like 300gals or something like that, will that be to big to use in my 55? I am trying to get away with having to buy something twice.
Thanks
Joe

I don't think that would be a problem. Most skimmers are adjustable, and you would just have to adjust it so that you would be skimming an appropriate amount for a 55 gallon tank. You could then crank it up on your next tank.
